Jennifer ReedI have been working with children as both a caregiver and Nutritional Consultant since 2006. During the 5 years I worked as a caregiver for 2 young children I developed a passion for cooking and an interest in nutrition. I decided to combine these interests and pursue a career in family nutrition. After Graduating from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in 2006 I worked for an organization whose partners included BC Healthy Communities, Canadian Cancer Society, The Canadian Diabetes Association and Fraser Health. Together we focused on community development issues with a main goal of improving Nutritional Health, Decreasing Hunger and Increasing Community Food Sustainability. During this time I helped with many projects including the development of a healthy eating project that was used by the Canadian Diabetes Association in both the Elementary Schools and Strong Start Programs in Surrey. For the past 8 months I have had the pleasure of working as a Behavior Interventionist with ABALC. I am looking forward to continuing to learn about ASD through my work as a BI as well as further education in Psychology. My goals are to develop a healthy eating program that includes a series of educational workshops as well as a family nutrition consulting program that will focus on children’s nutrition and mental health. |
